The Loch Ness monster: myth or reality?

January 17th, 2010 Mythral No comments

The Loch Ness monster, water creature, is believed to exist in a place known as Loch Ness, situated in Scottish Highlands. Its description, I found is remarkably linked to those of the other water monsters present in the lake. Although, elsewhere it has been described using various other terms. It struck attention and popularity when it was first sighted in the year 1933. It also generated a large amount of interest when its first sonar recording was found. However, scientists and researchers are of the opinion that the entire concept of the Loch Ness monster is a hoax and mix of fantasy and wishful thinking. In spite of all this, it has still been listed as an example of the crypto zoology. Apparently, this mythological monster also goes by the name Nessie.

Furthermore, as I went through more papers I found that this monster was first caught sight by a man hailing from London named George Spicer. He and his wife spotted this most extraordinary creature as he was monitoring around the areas of the Loch. They described it as a creature, closely resembling a sea serpent, a huge dragon or a monster fish. Later on, more sightings were found. People started writing anonymous letters to the Courier. Many people started describing the monster as a magnificent pre-historic creature. Eventually, the monster came to be known as the ‘Loch Ness monster’.

Finally, the police had issued an official order for the public forbidding them to attack the monster. Various historians later started claiming that the first sighting of the monster went back to as far as the 6th century.

In this particular piece of information, I found that the Loch Ness was originally first caught sight in the vicinity surrounding the area, Picts. Where there was a burial going about by the side of the river Ness, the monster was caught sight. However, this seems to be ruled out due to the fact that water beasts were a popular theme for medieval stories.

But what still remains evident, is Mr. Spicer’s description and sighting of the creature. Later, it was caught sighted by a maid servant, Margaret Munroe, who claims to have seen it 200 yards away from the sea shore. She said it looked like it had elephant like skin, two short flippers, a long neck, and small head. She had observed the creature for what she claims to be, 20 minutes. It later disappeared into the sea water.

Although, there were many expeditions conducted to find what it exactly was. There was a LNPIB bureau or the Loch Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau which was formed around 1962. They conducted annual surveys, searches and many expeditions. They finally closed it down by 1970. It was an unsuccessful search.

Many animals have been misidentified and mistaken for the Loch Ness monster. Animals such as the elephant, eel, seal and many birds were misidentified for the Loch Ness monster.

Even trees, optical wakes, seiches and large wakes were misidentified for the Loch Ness monster.
Till today, nobody has ever been able to find anything related to the so called magnificent creature. The Loch Ness monster still remains one of the biggest and most mysterious creatures ever, in the history of time.

2012 – the end of the world?

2012 end of the world?

2012 has been termed as the judgement year with many prophecies predicting the end of an era. But that only means the beginning of a new era and a new kind of existence for us.

How do we know if we are aligned for that new era? And what if the future holds changes so drastic that we may not be prepared for? There are so many predictions as to how the world will move towards a more spiritually inclined era after 2012.

No one can know what will happen after 2012. For now, we only know that very few people know the nuances of spiritualism and most of the population is ignorant. But we do have a common understanding, a common opinion; that something in this world is not right.

Why do we think something is wrong? Because our perceptions are distorted by dualism. Dualism is a spiritual term that has been widely misunderstood.

Dualism is a term that means the observer and the observed, which leads to two entities. It refers to there being a ‘me’ and what is not part of that ‘me’.

The distorted perception of the world is cleared when the person reaches enlightenment. Then there is a sudden and radical wake from the dualistic vision and this lets them see the world as it really is; non dual.

To get to the non dual mode is a long time process. It may take years or even lifetimes. But the experience is totally worth the effort. When you reach the non dual stage, the conscious mind is not influenced by the egoistic mind that one normally possesses forming ‘I’, ‘me’ and ‘mine’ impressions.

Will 2012 waken our non dual side? Will we stop being influenced by our dualistic self and start seeing things differently? It remains to be seen.

Sun signs: A positive understanding

September 18th, 2009 Mythral 3 comments

I have always been fascinated by this topic. It was just so wonderful to read about the sun signs and their different qualities, that I could not stop researching this wonderful concept. There are twelve sun signs in the zodiac and they are as follows:

Sun signs

Sun signs

1. Aries – The Ram (March 21- April 20)
2. Taurus – The Bull (April 21- May 21)
3. Gemini – The Twins (May 22- June 21)
4. Cancer – The Crab (June 22 – July 23)
5. Leo – The Lion (July 24- August 23)
6. Virgo – The Virgin (August 24- September 23)
7. Libra – The Scales (September 24- October 23)
8. Scorpio – The Scorpion (October 24 – November 22)
9. Sagittarius – The Archer (November 23-December 21)
10. Capricorn – The Goat (December 22- January 20)
11. Aquarius – The Water Bearer (January 21- February 20)
12. Pisces – The Fish (February 21-to March 20)

As I grew to understand this concept of sun signs better, I found that the Sun is most powerful in the entire universe and it exercises its warmth and power so accurately that the person born under the astrological house – upon which the sun was exercising its power – is bound to take after the characteristics of that particular zodiac. Sun signs are almost 80%-90% accurate. The purpose of us understanding zodiac signs is to understand people better.

Sun signs are the skeleton of human life. They form the bones that connect our body, and hence we have the qualities of the sign. But there is the innate 10%-20% of oneself which adds up to the personality of the sun under which we are born. Due to this factor astrological readings based on sun signs cannot be thoroughly precise as our individualism varies from person to person.

Now that I have a better understanding of the sun signs, it would be much easier for me to judge people. But in order to be a pro at this, the very basic step is to know a person’s date of birth, as sun signs are categorized according to it. Sun signs help us communicate much better with people; they also help us deal with people in a better way.

Many of us would not agree to the fact that sun signs govern our life. Personally, I disagree. Every time someone says, “I don’t believe in all this,” they’re only fooling themselves. If we notice, our major characteristics are linked to the behaviour of our sun sign. Of course there are other aspects to be considered such as the time of birth, ascent and descent of the moon, etc. But the basic knowledge is that, sun signs rule our behaviour, and our actions. They define who we are.

Understanding sun signs can help us in many ways. If we know the sun sign of a person, it can help us be aware of their personality, make us tolerable towards their negative traits, more appreciative of their positive traits and more understanding towards their sensitive traits. A good relationship can be built upon the foundation laid by sun signs.

Spoting an UFO – have you ever seen one?

March 17th, 2009 Mythral 10 comments

I saw this TV program not long ago about UFO spotting all around the world. It was really interesting and it brought memories back to me from my childhood. I believe I encountered something unexplainable. Aliens? Hallucinations? Something else?

I believe I was 14 and I was up late watching the stars. It gets very dark out here on the “country-side” and I had always enjoyed the silence and tranquillity of a starlit night-sky.

This night was very special. I started with a falling star and I felt really excited. It was not the first time I have seen it but this one was much brighter… I realized that the falling star “rose” again and it took me awhile to really understand that I was seeing something out of the ordinary. It was coming closer and I could see that  it was some kind of machine that flew faster than anything I had ever seen or heard of before. Suddenly it appeared close to me, then it vanished into thin air… I still don’t know until this day what I saw but I am positive that it was not man made…

Have you had an experience similar to this? Please share…
